Highland Fling

Ah, the Highland Cow… One of those perennial subjects that I’m forever being asked to paint! So many contemporary artists have attempted this one, but I resisted…

Until, eventually, I ran out of excuses! In the end, I think my ‘Highland Fling’ turned out rather well. There are two aspects of this one, that I’m particularly pleased with. First, I LOVE the backlit halo that’s making her ears glow. Its discovery was actually a happy accident and I was more than willing to continue the same effect down her back. Second,  I’m pleased with the bold flash of blue for its topknot, that balances the tongue! Truly, a Highland Fling!
