Into the Valley - Part One

‘Part One’ of my ‘Into the Valley’ Diptych, this work is several years younger than its companion. It was actually painted at the suggestion of my printer, Gordon, who felt that the original work (‘Part Two’) might benefit from being extended.

I think he was right. For we now have two distinct emotional forms here – a male and female – sharing a complimentary horizon line. They also share a palette; a return to the subtle purples, mauves and deep blues of my popular ‘Purple Hare’ series. Together, the pair represent a harmony of purpose and narrative; I’m thrilled to finally get the chance to take you ‘Into the Valley’!
