Into the Valley - Part Two

May I present ‘Into the Valley – Part Two’: the second part of what would become a Diptych. This one is actually a few years old now and was originally a standalone piece. While I was satisfied with the Hare’s pose and the background (esp. the background!) I could never bring myself to finish it. It always felt ‘unbalanced’ to me and, as a result, it ended-up languishing in my pile of ‘almost-but-not-quites’. That is, until my lovely printer Gordon, suggested that its conversion into a larger work – a Diptych – might offer a solution… I think he was right!

For we now have two distinct emotional forms here – a male and female – sharing a complimentary horizon line. They also share a palette; a return to the subtle purples, mauves and deep blues of my popular ‘Purple Hare’ series. Together, the pair represent a harmony of purpose and narrative; I’m thrilled to finally get the chance to take you ‘Into the Valley’!
