Moonlight Hare

‘MOONLIGHT HARE’ is a special work, held close by my collectors.

Consider the delicate shaft of moonlight as it shines upon the Hare’s head. I wanted to get a sense, both of its enduring patience as much as its connection to the Universe that surrounds us. The palette is also selected and used with care, as is the speckled appliqué that lifts the background. I’m still using my usual array of unexpected colours, especially on the Hare’s furry pelt, but they’re muted here. More restrained. Quieter.

Painted at a difficult time in my life, when I was caring for my frail Mother, I poured a lot of love into Moonlight Hare. I think it shows.
