Rising Mist

‘RISING MIST’ was inspired by a typically misty Autumn day…

Much like the one outside, as I’m typing this! I’d been out for an early morning walk, in the copse at the end of my driveway. A weak sun was staggering its way up into a milky sky and all was grey. Immediately, I thought of all the Hares out in the field beyond. It was so murky I couldn’t see them, but they were out there, alright. So I thought of how a new picture might conjure the mood. Having collected a few fallen leaves, I dried them out and applied liberal amounts of paint to their veiny undersides, and used these to ‘block-print’ down onto the canvas. So many of my works use bright, Summery colours, so Rising Mist remains a favourite for the mood it evokes.
